favorite evil charachter?

My favorite bad guy on Charmed will always be Barbas, the fear demon. I absolutely love it in season six when we are in the world where roles of good and evil are reversed and we see him as hope. Fantastic! So, so, so funny.

I always liked the actor, I love his evil smile and hand gestures. I also liked that he really seemed to feel as though what he was doing was an art and he had careful thought out plans where he saw the sisters as people.

Who were your favorite Charmed evil characters or creatures in general, and why did you like them?

Have any of you checked out this website? This is the company that makes those great ponytail covers which Ms. Combs wears while kicking demon butt. They also have triquetra earings and broaches. Went on an Ebay spree and got "Totally Charmed - Demons, Whitelighters and Power of Three" - it is a collection of essays about the show. I have really been enjoying it. It isn't in the tabloid style of the cover.

now that charmed's gone. i'm trying to fill my witchcraft television show cravings.

i saw the commercial for "Hex" during the charmed finale and i immediately went to see if i could download it.

it's a BBC show that's coming to BBC America. so far i've seen the first series and it's great! although, i wish it had more magic, more witchcraft charmed style. but it has so much story and suspense that it makes up for the lack of telekinetics.

it is a great show! if you can get a chance to see it, you should check it out. it was only out for two series. the first series has 5 episodes. and the second series has 14.

i hope it gets better. it seemed like it took awhile to build up. but it has great smart and funny lines in it.

100th Charmed Ones member

I just joined this tribe as member number 100. I know, big deal, but anyway...I love, love, love Charmed and didn't realize (how clueless am I) that there was a tribe dedicated to my favourite American show. I watch it practically every morning on TNT while I am doing other things around the house like folding laundry, washing dishes and silverware (let the object of objection become but a dream...) and getting my kids up and ready for the day (we home school.) I've seen every episode so many times that I don't even need to have my eyes on the TV to know how the scene is playing out (I am sure you all can relate.) I have to have my morning fix of Charmed because I don't always get the chance to watch the evening rerun. It's my escape from all the stresses of reality. If I go a couple of days with out it, I start to Jones. My husband teases me because he thinks it's always on. Anytime he sees me watching he'll remark, " Oh, its The Charmed Network." My daughter teases me because she says, "You're just like Piper!" I am so sad that this is the last season. I was really hoping they'd run at least another year, 13 wouldn't be so bad either. But it is not to be. So anyway, I am happy to have found this tribe and happy to be here...Cheers!

Did Gramms illustrate the "Book of Shadows?"

There are so many beautiful watercolors in the Book, and Gramms has occasionally said she "wrote the Book."

I just saw an old episode where muses were being accosted, and Paige was a very talented painter. Could she start illustrating the book for the new chapters?

Is there a magic way they always seem to find what they need in a few pages? I remember Paige once put sticky tabs in the book to index it, but they're gone.

I can believe how well Christy is manipulating Billie. Billie was the one who wanted to learn magic from the sisters. They haven't used her. They helped hone her skills so she wouldn't get herself killed. Well, I guess one can see the disbelief arise in Billie and the conflict she has about what Christy is saying. I wonder if Christy is evil and can she touch The Book of Shadows. Hmmm. Why would Billie give any credence to what she says when Christy was raised in a cave. Hello, a cave by demons. This doesn't seem like the best source for sympathy and understanding of social interaction.I mean, if Christy has all of this knowledge which mostly seem like dark magic why is Billie so keen on trusting her. I suppose, one could say it is because she had been so desperate to find her and now she is the only family left.
Clearly, Coop is Phoebe's baby daddy. Better get cracking Phoebe and recognize because there are only like, 3 or 4 more episodes left.
I got a kick out of Paige being stuck in Henry's head. Geez, he is sure dealing with this magic world quite well. That was cute when he orbed those vials.
What is with this new potion that the blondes sister use to travel around with. Why hasn't Piper or Phoebe ever used it before. I am sure there were time when Paige couldn't orb them.
I wonder if what Coop says to Phoebe will be the key to defeating the ultimate power. That love will make her stronger. Will love help bring Billie around.

Meanwhile, Paige (Rose McGowan) saves her new charge, Mikelle (guest star Sara Downing) from two Darklighters, and Christy traps the sisters in a dreamstate in order to prove to Billie that each of their "inner-truths" are driven by selfishness. Later, Billie must decide if she will team up with Christy to dethrone The Charmed Ones.

Well, I am glad that the girls are now thanks to these dreams back on track and focused on fullfilling their inner truths. What a burn that we get a glimpse of Leo and it is some old man not played by Brian Krause. Geez, couldn't the WB just fork out a few coins for a measly 3 second scene. Anthor burn, we get introduced to Paige's new charge and by the end of the show she is dead.
Hullo, Billie, it is a huge misunderstanding and a big manipulation. you are in magic school which has been overrun by demons, the triad was evil, Christy was raised in a cave. How does Christy become a sage and know all about their destiny. Destiny according to demons. Billie get a clue. Why would she even consider siding with the belief system of the demons who took her sister, or the triad over the elders. And again, Coop is saying love is paramount. Like this will be some important theme because it can't be that the the Halliwells kill the Jenkinses.

Episode 8.17 Generation Hex

Well, after that hiatus Charmed is back. This is 1st of what will be the final six epsisodes before it ends, forever.
That Christy was really annoying me with her bad attituded, but what can you expect from a girl that was raised by demons. I still don't get why Billie would be the ultimate powere when Wyatt was supposed to be this great entity. Speaking of the boy, every time he speaks it freaks me out. He totally should be talking more, but still it was a bit of a shock when he spoke, and with such wisdom. It was nice to see Piper being quite relaxed instead of her usual irritated or angry self.
I guess it was nice to see Cole again, if only in flasbacks. I know what that trip down memory lane was supposed to accomplish. however, I couldn't really discern anything from the jumble of scenes they showed. Happily it is a show about magic and magically Coop figured it out and resolved the issue, ublocking Phoebe. Sort of like a magical love enema.
Paige had some of the funniest moments when she slugged Piper after healing her and when she said that she had enough time to listen because Henry was diving and had a full tank of oxygen. I love how she orbs with her luggage and later orbs back in drinking that daquari.
Dang, what a burn about Billie's parents. Talk about here today, gone tomorrow. I guess they had to employ this universal theme of finding the hate within you to be able to kill and reach your potential evil. Piper better get cooking and have some meals ready to feed that damn Christy to death.

What's the spell for making TV history? Ask Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan, and Holly Marie Combs, the actresses who play good-witch sisters on The WB's Charmed: In January, their show, which ends its eight-season run this spring, beat Laverne & Shirley as the longest-running series with female leads. We caught up with the stars as they shot the series finale — here's what they told reporters about the ''lame'' cancellation announcement, their favorite episodes, and the problem with pasties.

Are you sad it's over?

ROSE McGOWAN (PAIGE) It was strange reading the final script and at the very end seeing ''End of Series.''
ALYSSA MILANO (PHOEBE) It's a really weird thing, and I haven't been able to articulate it no matter how many times I've had a conversation about it. You don't what to reminisce too much because that's when the sorrow sort of crawls all over your body and you want to lie in the fetal position. And obviously it's exciting because this is life, and life is about change, and tomorrow is a new day, and one door closes and another opens, and all those clichés that are clichés for a reason.

There was some question about whether you'd even be back for this season, right?

McGOWAN There was a great expectancy last year that it would be the last, so [now] it's like the double good-bye. You leave a party, you say good-bye, and you realize you left your purse. Aw, crap!
HOLLY MARIE COMBS (PIPER) [Last year] I was in a great deal of denial. I was like, ''We're coming back, whatever.'' We knew this time it wasn't going to happen because all of our contracts are up.
McGOWAN Which is incredibly annoying, because The CW or whatever that name is [rolls eyes] —
COMBS Cartoon Network.
McGOWAN Cartoon —
COMBS Cartoon Wookiee.
McGOWAN They made a big announcement that we were canceled. I'm like, How is it possible to cancel something that doesn't exist?... [Since] all three contracts are done, there's effectively no show. So then why would you [announce a cancellation]?... Kind of lame to dishonor something that's worked for them for so long.
COMBS It's like, [serenely] Will & Grace is coming to an end. And 7th Heaven is ending its run. And yet Charmed gets axed!
McGOWAN I thought it was like one last annoying pissing contest.
COMBS The WB never treated us well, so we didn't expect a lot of farewell wishes and flowers or cards.

How were you not treated that well?

COMBS Well, we were never promoted. The year we premiered [1998], they had their favorite shows. They had a policy of promoting a couple shows at a time that they thought were going to be their front-runners. And we were never that.... When the press mentions The WB, they mention Buffy, Felicity and Gilmore Girls, and yet one show that has been on longer than all of them is never mentioned.
McGOWAN I don't have any super-big data to back this up, but my general hunch is that shows that are female-driven get axed probably quicker.
COMBS Because they're so problematic. [Laughter.] ''I wanted that swimsuit, dammit!''

What do you think your legacy will be with this show?

McGOWAN That I survived. That every year, I got less flus. First year was five, next year was four...
COMBS I think we deserve to be proud of ourselves because we held it together and we didn't have a lot of support. It would've been very easy to make this one of the other shows that gets all the critical attention because of how we behaved off-screen, or how we behaved with each other. We came in and did our work in the fastest fashion possible and went home. We tried not to pull each other's hair out or make mortal enemies, and we succeeded in that. In this industry there's this ridiculous connotation with women shows that's it's got to be difficult, and it's not true.

Do you have a favorite episode or story line?

COMBS [To McGowan] You're a big fan of your leprechaun episodes!
McGOWAN I ad-libbed a line: ''What happened to me in my life that I had to deal with so many leprechauns?'' For me, it's probably the ''Charmed Noir'' episode [in which Paige is stuck in a 1930s-set, gangster-themed novel]. I like that one the best, because we had amazing cars. Everything kind of came together on that one. We had a really good script; the lighting was great. The director had done a movie with Mob characters, and so he pulled favors and found these really great, recognizable Mob-looking guys. We had Joe Kennedy Sr.'s stretch limo. [To Combs] I think yours was when you were dancing on the bar.
COMBS Nooo! That was my most mortifying... I had to be drunk and Shannen [Doherty, an original star of the show] choreographed it. So I really was completely absent from the whole thing. Mine was probably the Camelot episode. I don't know why; I got to do sword fighting.
MILANO You know, I probably haven't watched a full episode since the first year... When you've been on TV since you were 11 years old, it's just kinda not so interesting. I'd much rather watch Huff or House. I just feel like I lived the episode.... [But] I can tell you that the mermaid episode was great to do. I love doing the episodes where I'm in some sort of crazy getup — it gives the crew things to make fun of me about, which is always entertaining for everyone. The mermaid episode was pretty tough because I'm afraid of water, and I was [wearing] pasties.... My breasts were chafed for about two months after — they put them on with surgical glue.

At least you knew they weren't going to come off...

MILANO Yeah, that's true. I was glad they were on there with surgical glue. But, yeah, being afraid of the water and being in the ocean in something where your legs are sort of bound together was pretty frightening.

How did they talk you into that, then?

MILANO I made the mistake of not reading the script until the week before we started shooting. I was like, ''You have the wrong sister! [Laughs] Y'all are nuts! I'm from Brooklyn. We don't have pools in Brooklyn. We have, like, fire hydrants!'' It was a very weird thing.

What can you tell us about the finale?
COMBS I'm probably not letting a whole bunch out of the bag, but pretty much every family member and guest star that we've had on the shows is coming back.... So that's something.

Shannen?

COMBS Well. [Smiles.] That's a completely different show. [Laughs.]

Julian McMahon (of Nip/Tuck, who played Phoebe's ex-hubby/demon Cole)?

McGOWAN He came back already for the 150th.
COMBS He said he would come back for the 200th [laughing] if there was one. Since there won't be, we may not see him. But it's a testament to the show that they all had such a good time.

Are you taking a break after this show is over?

McGOWAN I'm working right now.
COMBS I'm feeling an obligation to my small child to be a full-fledged mother.
MILANO I have, like, 35 film scripts in my condo and I haven't read any of them. I can't even attempt to, uh, think about it until I put this to rest and there's closure here.

Do you have a favorite power, or wish you had magic powers in real life?

McGOWAN This is really super pathetic to admit. But I'm always on airplanes, and I will spend many, many, many minutes sitting there fantasizing about having that power and all the things I would do and the places I could travel. I'm like, This is really lame, spending an inordinate amount of time fantasizing...
COMBS You know, I always petitioned [exec producer] Brad [Kern] for a demon-free episode, and I think, I haven't finished the last episode, but I think I may have finally got it. The witchcraft stuff is a great backdrop, but to me the show is always about the sisters and their relationships and going through life.

Do you think there are going to be some Charmed conventions coming up?

MILANO I hear that there are some happening in England.

Would you go to one?

MILANO Um, yeah, maybe. I never say never. Maybe if it's in, you know, Hawaii or something... New Zealand or some place exotic. Yeah.

Why Shannen left Charmed.

Shannen left Charmed at the end of its third season in May 2001. Her character was actually killed off. Which seem to indicate that the plan was that she would never return. As we have seen the dead do return on the show but as ghosts and whitelighters. Ghosts can only ever come back temporarily as seen with Grams. Whitelighters are able to come back in a long term capacity but the individual who is chosen is usually an altruistic person which I am not sure could have been said about her character. Well, it seems that the person who would have been in charge of the decision on how to kill of Prue Halliwell would have been producer Brad Kern. Searches of the reason why SD left the show range from Alyssa and Holly threatened to leave if Shannen didn't to Shannen and Brad clashed. There are many rumours out there. The recent articles posted here point out that she wasn't even asked back for the finale. This again seems to indicate that either Kern, the producer, or one of the stars did not want her back. Kern states internal and financial issues as to why they didn't ask her back. Combs rolls her eyes and says that is a whole other show. Even though in some articles, HMC and SD are reported to be good friends. In other articles, AM states that she isn't po'd with SD. So, then if all that old feud is water under the bridge, why she not asked back. It seems that maybe those old wounds still haven't healed.
So, here are a few rumours and reports about SD's departure from the show.

"The BIG news -- The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Shannen Dougherty is leaving the show! It has been no secret that there have been major problems on the set of Charmed. Both Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs have been threatening to leave the show unless Dougherty left. Better to replace one witch than two, huh?

The witches are finally exposed! Prue and Piper are caught on film vanquishing a demon. The clip airs on every news program in the area, thus exposing the secret the "Charmed Ones" to the world. The witches realize they must try to travel back in time to prevent this event from happening.

Did Shannen Doherty leave "Charmed" over a feud with her costar Alyssa Milano? That's what an insider told MSNBC's gossip column "The Scoop," adding that the two actresses "couldn't stand to be on the set together."

"Shannen gave The WB an ultimatum: 'her or me.' Initially the thinking was that Alyssa was going to go. They were both under contract and had lawyers hashing it out until the last minute, but Shannen overplayed her hand and The WB went with Alyssa instead. She's much better liked by the cast and staff anyway," says the insider.

In addition, a rumored romance between Milano and her co-star Brian Krause, reportedly further angered Doherty, according to the gossip columnist Ted Casablanca.

Doherty also ran into trouble on her former gig (and fellow Aaron Spelling-produced series) "Beverly Hills, 90210." Doherty was let go from a leading role on "90210" after four seasons on the show.

Officials from The WB were not available for comment. The network officially unvieled its new fall season today, and executives said they had no doubt Spelling would find a suitable replacement for Doherty."

"Charmed" is coming back for another season on The WB but don't expect Shannen Doherty to be there. The star of the three-year old program has left the series, according the The Hollywood Reporter.

Spelling TV, the production company behind "Charmed," confirmed the departure Friday, but no reason was given. The show, which revolves around three sisters who are witches, is left without one of its central characters. There was a casting change made once before in the series, which originally had Lori Rom cast as sister Phoebe in its pilot. However, Alyssa Milano was brought in when the series went to production. Holly Marie Combs also stars.

Doherty was known for her attitude and temper on her previous series, "Beverly Hills, 90210," and was fired after four seasons. The character of Hunter Fallow in The WB's recent comedy "Grosse Pointe" was loosely based on Doherty, who did have a recent run-in with the law when she was arrested for drunk driving last year. She pleaded no contest to the charges earlier this month. "

Brad Kern, executive producer of The WB's Charmed, told SCI FI Wire that he didn't ask original cast member Shannen Doherty to join a host of returning actors for the series' upcoming finale and added that he had his reasons. Doherty's character, Prue Halliwell, was killed off in 2001; though the series' magical storylines would have allowed the return of the character, Kern said: "There are a lot of issues, mostly internal and financial, as to why we didn't ask Shannen back." He added in an interview on the show's set on March 28: "Prue's memory will be kept [alive] and be honored, but we didn't ask Shannen to come back. ... The show is more about the sisters who are here, not the one who's not." Indeed, the character of Paige (played by Rose McGowan starting in 2001) has been on the series longer than Doherty's Prue.

Kern added that another high-profile cast member won't return: Julian McMahon, whose character, Cole Turner, lasted until 2003. "He did return for the 150th episode, and that was very cool," said cast member Holly Marie Combs, who plays Piper Halliwell and is also one of the show's producers. "We all enjoyed it." She added that McMahon, who went on to play Dr. Doom in the Fantastic Four movie and to star in the F/X TV series Nip/Tuck, is quite busy. "He told us that he would love to come back for the 200th episode, but we never quite got there." As far as Doherty, Combs rolled her eyes and said: "Well, that's a whole other show."

Kern said during the set visit that many of the fans' favorite characters from the past will be returning. The three sisters' grandmother and mom (Penny and Patty), the "future Chris" and others will be joining the end of the show for the wedding of Phoebe (Alyssa Milano). "In one scene we will have 12 characters," Kern said. "The director is going crazy trying to figure out how to shoot it." Kern wrote the final episode only two weeks ago, but has been planning elements of the end of the series for five years.

Brian Krause, who plays Leo, is also returning after budget cuts forced his role to be scaled back last season. "I don't really understand the reasoning about cutting my character, when they put other characters in that cost just as much or more, but I'm glad to be here for the end," Krause said.

The last episode will be completed in mid-April. "I get teary-eyed just talking about it," Milano said. "We're all pretty emotional. It's been such a big part of our lives." Kern said the actresses have all played a part in writing how their characters will end up in the finale.

Kern said that he doesn't plan a spinoff show and added that he hopes fans will be satisfied that many of the loose ends will be tied up. "It's a valentine to the fans that we will get all of the favorite characters we could afford to come back for the last episode," Kern said. "It will include family from the past and also future generations to show that the life of Charmed will go on, even if it's not on TV." —Mike Szymanski

Kaley Cuoco, who plays a young witch on the WB's Charmed, has joined ABC's untitled comedy pilot about two sisters who live together despite having grown up under different circumstances--one rich, one poor.

She will portray Gabby, the younger sister to Marisa Coughlan's character.

Cuoco joined the cast of Charmed this season as Billie, a witch under the tutelage of the Charmed Ones (Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, and Rose McGowan). Before that, she had a starring role as the late John Ritter's daughter on ABC's comedy series 8 Simple Rules.

Charmed is ending its run at the end of this season, at the same time the WB and UPN merge to become The CW.

Charmed Cast Blasts WB

Now that they're wrapping up the eighth and final season of The WB's Charmed, the show's cast and crew blasted the network's handling of the long-running supernatural series in interviews with SCI FI Wire. "We were never treated that well," star Holly Marie Combs, who plays Piper and became producer after the fourth season, said in an interview on the show's set in Los Angeles. "We were never promoted properly by the network. The only way we ever got a billboard on Sunset Boulevard was when Shannen [Doherty] called up and insisted." (Doherty, who played Prue Halliwell, left the show after three seasons.)

"Then, the network dishonors us by saying we were canceled, axed, cut," star Rose McGowan said. She replaced Doherty and stayed on for five seasons as Paige. "They asked me if I wanted to be a producer, too, and I asked if there was more money attached to that, and they said, 'No,' and I said, 'Forget it.' ... This last thing about being canceled seems like the last annoying pissing match going on with the show. It was extremely rude."

Both Combs and McGowan said that their contracts run out after the eighth season, and none of them had planned on returning anyway. "There was nothing to cancel," McGowan said. "They didn't have us. ... Instead, we continue to get treated like the ugly stepchild of the network. Anyway, I'm proud of what we accomplished."

Charmed made history as the longest-running TV series featuring multiple female leads, surpassing Laverne & Shirley by half a season. "No one expected us to last more than three episodes, and here we had ratings that were higher than Buffy [the Vampire Slayer] at times," executive producer Brad Kern said. "We had no lead-in show. We were moved around a lot, and it still lasted as long as it did."

Brian Krause, whose character, Leo, was cut last season due to budgetary concerns, will return for the finale. "I can't guess what Paramount and The WB were doing, whether it was money or whether they brought other characters in or whatever," Krause said. "I don't know if they were trying to groom talent to go on to something else. I don't know. For me, honestly, it turned out to be a blessing, really, to go out and work on my short movie and work on a couple of other projects. So they kind of did me a favor by being able to get out there and get into pilot season."

Charmed Is Ready To End

Brad Kern, executive producer of The WB's Charmed, told SCI FI Wire that he decided before the official announcement that this would be the last season for the series. The show, which stars Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan, will end May 21.

Last year The WB held off making an announcement about Charmed's future until all the season's episodes had been shot. Kern said he found it challenging to create an ending for the seventh season that would honor the fans' desire for a satisfying ending for the series, while also leaving the door open in case Charmed got picked up for another season.

"I did make up my mind a long time ago, because ... I was not going to be in the same position that we were in last year," Kern said in an interview. "And I don't think that was right for the show or right for the fans. We got away with it once, but I was not going to let it happen a second time. ... I started on this path a long time ago, and it's merely just a formality to finally hear the official word."

Charmed, which has anchored Sunday nights for The WB for many years, is in its eighth season. According to Kern, the recent announcement that the series would end was "the biggest non-surprise in the history of its kind. Although I do take issue—I've gotten a few phone calls with people asking, 'What's it like to be canceled'—I said, 'We're not canceled.' Shows do end. And this is ending at just ... the right time and just the right way. So it's really all good. It's heading in exactly the direction that I wanted it to. So I really have no complaints, other than being a little tired."

The long-running supernatural series follows three sisters who must fight the forces of evil using their power as witches. Charmed has survived multiple timeslots, marginal ratings and major cast changes. While some have attributed Charmed's exit to the merger between The WB and UPN, Kern had made the decision to write this season as the show's last before the merger was announced.

"We all feel like we got a reprieve for the eighth season," Kern said. "And I think that, because of what happened last year, none of us felt very satisfied with the way we were forced to do kind of a hybrid season series finale. We've all looked at this as the last season, I mean, partly because the girls don't have any contracts, or their contracts expire after this year. And they, rightly, want to move on. And I don't have a contract next year, and I'd like to move on. ... So we all felt very strongly like this was our second chance to end the series properly." Charmed Spinoffs Possible?

Cast and crew of The WB's Charmed, which ends its eight-season run this spring, told SCI FI Wire that various ideas for spinoff series were tossed around, but most think the prospects are unlikely. Producers pitched the idea of a spinoff series centered on Brian Krause's character, Leo Wyatt. "I'd love to do it," Krause said in an interview during a visit to the show's set at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles this week. "I'd jump at the chance. ...The greatest thing about the character that I play is that my character has integrity, and ... I think that my character brought up the idea and emotions of right and wrong."

Series executive producer Brad Kern said The WB network wanted the eight-year series to end with the possibility of characters going off on their own series. "We started this season with a mandate to come up with a way to keep the show going or have some spinoff characters. That's the way that The WB picked up the show," Kern said. "But I have to say ... the show has had an amazing run, and we don't want to end the show a year too late, a year after when it should've been canceled, and there is always that possibility. We feel good about the way that we're ending, and again, you don't get that opportunity in television to end the show on your own terms."

One of the most likely spinoffs would center on the new character of Billie, played by Kaley Cuoco (ABC's 8 Simple Rules). But Cuoco said it's not going to happen. "No," she said. "There is not going to be a spinoff, not for me, not for my character. I think I want to go back to a sitcom."

Don't count on Charmed stars Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs or Rose McGowan to recreate their Halliwell sister characters in another series anytime soon. Milano and Combs have been on the show for eight years, and McGowan joined after five. "There won't be a spinoff with us or our characters," said Combs, who is also a producer. "That's for sure." Great, but still room for improvement?

I am always surprised at how engaging this show is. The one thing I have been disappointed about is the structure of the underworld. I'd think they'd have demon wars, and organized crime from petty and incidious to huge and calamatous, with the good side trying to keep up with the collateral damage. That would have made for tougher moral decisions to decide what is good.

I also like it better when the demons are complicated and need to be challenged in some way other than just blowing them up.

Are the demons somehow spawned from the darkside of human consciousness? That would lead them to be 'defective' personalities, which would make them easier to consider inhuman. Some of the recent ones have seemed to completely human characteristics, which makes me think calling them completely evil is simplifying things to a criminal extent. Piper doesn't even wonder any more if she's on the right side, preferring instead to shoot without asking questions.

I also thought they should have had a closet door that leads to magic school for those of us (oh, I mean them) who can't orb there.

The season premiere was great! Whast did everyone else think?

The girls looked FABULOUS! It was great 2 see Grams and her look; the afterlife is keeping her in good style! The show was on "magic-lite" 2night but I think this is what we have in store 4 the final season(budget cuts et al) but Billie looks 2 be quite a handful 4 Paige n the girls. We just have 2 wait n see...

'Charmed' Magically Stays Alive

Last April on the set of The WB Network's Sunday-night supernatural drama "Charmed," tempers were a bit frayed. The seventh-season finale was in production, and there was no word yet on whether the show had been renewed.

Star Holly Marie Combs, who plays Piper, the eldest of three demon-vanquishing good-witch sisters, was getting a bit cranky. "I'm not going to sugarcoat it," she said at the time. "I am not pleased. After this amount of time on a network, we deserve better."
Brian Krause, who plays Piper's husband, Leo, was more optimistic, saying, "I think they'd be silly not to bring us back."

"Whatever's going to be is what's going to be," philosophized Rose McGowan, who plays youngest sister Paige.
Alyssa Milano, who spent the better part of her 20s playing middle-sister Phoebe, worried more about the fans, saying, "I don't get ... not giving them what they deserve for hanging in for seven years, because that's going to lose more audience."

The word finally came at the 11th hour, right before the network was to announce its fall schedule to advertisers in mid-May. Apparently, The WB was not willing to toss out the show's 3.5 to 4 million weekly viewers (who would then see promos for The WB's new fall shows). The new season begins on Sunday, Sept. 25. Says network entertainment chief David Janollari (to whom executive producer Brad Kern had made an impassioned pitch for the new season), "The pickup of 'Charmed,' which has long been a terrific performer for us and held its ground really nicely in its seventh season, was a matter of saying, 'Let's continue to have an 8 o'clock show to anchor the night that we know performs and has a loyal audience."

The decision was also made to add a new, younger witch, Billie, played by Kaley Cuoco ("8 Simple Rules"). With Billie, Janollari wants to "spice things up a little bit, to bring potentially a new and somewhat younger audience into the show."

And, as hope springs eternal in the network breast, Kern points out, "Janollari has some hope, however much of a long shot, that Kaley's character, in combination with any one of the sisters, may want to come back, could keep the show going. There's always that possibility. That door is not closed."
All this happy news meant, of course, that Kern now had to dig himself out the deep dramatic hole he created for the finale.

He had allowed the sisters, collectively known as The Charmed Ones, to wipe their slates clean and start new lives with new identities (played by different actresses), while also protecting the secret of their magical abilities.
"I didn't know we were coming back," Kern says. "What was I supposed to do? It was more of a series finale than a season finale. But there were more than enough elements in there, building blocks, to help me and the writing staff dig out of it, and we have. We've got the first six scripts written as we speak."

One might wonder, with three witch sisters and another witch on the way, why Kern doesn't simply have someone cast a spell and undo everything? According to Kern, that would be cheating, and the fans would resent it.
"Magic might be a Band-Aid," he says, "but it won't be the solution. Our folks wouldn't stick with us if they saw us do, 'Oh, never mind, that didn't really happen.' We have to get out of it authentically. We have to earn it.
"That turns out to be fun for the first third of the season, watching how the girls live their lives after having feigned their deaths and realizing that maybe the identity they left behind, or some part of that identity, they want back."
Unfortunately for Kern, there won't be any magical solutions for his practical problems either. Although the sisters abandoned their old lives, budget restrictions mean Kern must retain all his standing sets, including the sisters' Victorian house in San Francisco.

"Frankly," Kern says, "our budget was cut back substantially in order to come back. That forced my hand tremendously as far as creative choices. It's funny, that was actually my biggest concern, how can I back the stories and the characters into this new, restricted budget and not have it show?"
Kern also has to find room for some new characters, starting with Billie. When original cast member Shannen Doherty left the show, her character, eldest sister Prue, was killed off, and McGowan joined the cast as long-lost half-sister Paige. Billie, though, won't be a member of the family.
"I think we've brought in enough family members over the years," Kern says. "She's just a young witch who has just come into her powers and thinks it's pretty cool to use them, thinks the world is one big video game.
"In order to preserve some semblance of a normal life, the girls are going to wind up having to recruit her to do some of the demonic heavy lifting. At the same time, they're going to have to teach her what a moral compass is."
Originally, Kern was planning to bring in Sugar Ray frontman and "Extra" host Mark McGrath as a new love interest for Phoebe. But scheduling conflicts made that impossible, so now former model Jason Lewis ("Sex and the City") will do a six-episode stint as Dex, who'll be on Phoebe's romantic radar -- and it may get serious.

"We prophesied in earlier seasons that Phoebe's character is meant to have a child," Kern explains. "That'll have a lot to do with the first six episodes. She's going to realize that if the vision's supposed to happen, she'd better get busy soon."

ok so after that panic i had over some newcomers as the charmed gals in season 8 to be, i did some research and read that the ladies (holly, alyssa and rose) are contracted for one more year!!!

and that mark magrath (sugar ray) will be appearing in six episodes!!! should be coming in sept 05! YIPEE all is not lost!!

i think i found the one with the demon of illusions popping characters out of films, i thought it was sooo funny seeing them running around screaming like kids! very cliche yet very funny!

Ok, so I read and also saw in an interview that season eight will be the final season. Is that this season or is that next season? I just am wondering if this season is the last how they are going to resolve and end it so as not to piss off everyone.

What happened?

hey guys - newbie here! But once I saw this tribe I just knew I had to join. Got a question... Had friends over for about 2 weeks and I missed the whole avatar thing and I just don't understand. I saw the whole set up... and then I saw the last couple of minutes of the avatars changing everything back to the way it was. But I missed the middle. What happened???? Someone said something about killing people? Innocents? Please.... begging... someone tell me before I burst!

I am LOVING the DVDs, but hate that it took so long. I was forced to stop watching Charmed by my Christian Republican BPD ex boyfriend (long story), so I don't know anything since about the middle of the season after Paige joined. Sigh. I can't wait to buy all seasons on DVD.

Several websites have reported that the WB announced that Charmed will end after the 2004-2005 season (it's seventh season), however, this hasn't been confirmed nor denied. But if you'd like to "save" the show go the link below.

I have watched Charmed for going on 7 years now, and I have recently heard in an interview that next season will be Charmed's last season. Have you considered what the viewers want? Now that Angel is leaving the air, I can't think of any other reason to watch the WB except for Charmed. And if it gets cancelled, I don't have a reason to even watch it. So everyone, lets get together and see what we can do about it. Charmed is a wonderful show with great ratings. Not to mention the cast members are signed through an 8th season. Please don't take our show away. We love it!

hi, im naz and a new member but LOVE charmed. seen all episodes but only just managed to see "all hell brakes loose"(last episode in season three) and " charmed again (first ep in season 4)so dying to see this beacause of... well wont spoil it for those who still aint seen it!even though they are old, but i cried!!

E! Online and E! News Live's Kristin Veitch has reported exclusively that "Nip/Tuck" star Julian McMahon is currently in talks to become the next James Bond.

Inside sources have revealed to Kristin that the Australian actor is meeting with producer Barbara Broccoli early this week to discuss the possibility of stepping into the role, beginning with the upcoming film, Bond 21.

Been Watching off and on for years

I have been watching Charmed off and on for years.. But recently I got a digital Video Recorder and have been catching up on episodes that I have missed.. There are so many.. But anyways.. My question is this.. What happen to the Cat.. I haven't seen anything that shows the reason why you don't really see the cat in any of the more recent episodes?? I heard in 2005. I have downloaded the entire first season on overnet.com on overnet, they have the un-aired piolot with a different Phebee, then the 1st episode is on their and it is the same exact show with Alyssa. The very first show, if anyone remembers has more actual Wiccan stuff in it, and explains Wicca so (I guess) the Bible Belt won't think it is a Satanist show (just my guess I'm Pagan and used to live in Houston). bearshare.com has some too,. There is also more than just the first season.

Okay I am very happy that Piper and Leo got to get it on one more time. I was convinced that they would, and then that poison would turn Leo evil and he would be the one to turn Wyatt evil. But instead Leo just up and left and now I have no more ideas. Does anyone else have any ideas on what will happen next?
